Did you know?
2025 marks 16 years since Durham Regional Council officially endorsed the Durham Region Food Charter, a citizen-defined vision for a just and sustainable local food system founded on strong policy, local agriculture, community partnership, and health foundations.
The vision is still clear—published last spring the Durham Food System Report Card compiles metrics for success across all sectors of our local food system, examining our current strengths, challenges and opportunities for creating the food system we want to see.
It’s time to act! Join us as we move forward toward achieving the Food Charter’s goals through the development of a Durham Food System Strategy, that unifies us and commits to creating the conditions in which a healthy, just and sustainable local Durham community food system rooted in food sovereignty can flourish,
